Does 40 Hz sound cure Alzheimer's at home?
OverhypedClaim: "40 Hz sound cures Alzheimer's at home"
In Alzheimer's mouse models, 40 Hz sensory stimulation reduced amyloid burden by roughly 37-53%. Human trials are tiny (often 5-15 people), heterogeneous, and partly genotype-dependent; the researchers themselves call it "not sufficient evidence of efficacy." A 2025 paper warns that gentler, comfortable delivery produces much weaker brain entrainment โ so a phone or laptop speaker may simply be too weak to reproduce these effects. Treat this as experimental, not treatment, and not a substitute for medical care.
